Commuters along the area had observed of 7-inch hole, but Mendoza directed the whole span to be restored to its original good condition.

Consequently, half of the bridge’s lane is closed to traffic pending the implementation of Mendoza’s “Remove and Repair” order.

Mendoza had also recommended to their regional director an investigation and evaluation of the bridge project. Two teams from the regional office are expected to arrive anytime.

She said quality assurance of work was observed during the construction, including the quality and quantity of cement and other materials needed but unfavorable weather factor during the pouring of cement when the bridge was being built may have been caused of the damage.

“It was not sub-standard,” Mendoza pointed out.

“We’re glad the contractor promptly acceded to my order,” she added. (Tita Roces)
