Dagupan to link with VP Robredo’s program
LINKAGE FOR ANTI-POVERTY
THE Sangguniang Panlungsod on Wednesday, October 12, authorized Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the Office of Vice President Leni Robredo “for a holistic and integrated approach to address the multiple dimensions of poverty for the welfare of Dagupan families.”
Authored by Councilor Jeslito C. Seen and sponsored by Nicanor D. Aquino, the resolution seeks to ask help from national government to effectively address the city’s poverty issues.
Seen said the city government, through the Office of the Vice President, can “preserve the comfort and convenience of the families living here by prioritizing five areas that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, namely food security and nutrition, rural development, education, women empowerment and universal health care.”
The Office of the Vice President has invited partners and vulnerable communities to promote participatory mechanisms and capacitate local governments, private sector, non-government organizations, civil society organizations, and faith based institutions to work together in various geographical settings.
