LINGAYEN– To further create higher awareness against the dangers of drug abuse and violence, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office has began implementing the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program for grade school pupils in all towns.

P/Chief Inspector Luis Lipadan, deputy for police community relations, said DARE’s police officers in all police stations have been fielded to teach pupils in public schools.

“DARE lessons are given to Grades 5 and 6 students in public schools in the province to educate them on the bad effects of drugs,” Lipadan told the Pantongtongan Tayo (Pag-Usapan Natin) radio program of PIA-Pangasinan on Tuesday.

He added that the program also teaches children to keep away from liquor, tobacco and other vices.

Lipadan said every station has DARE officers who underwent formal training on classroom management, teaching strategies, communication skills, adolescent development and drug information.

Meanwhile, P/Supt. Ferdinand De Asis, chief of the police community relations branch, thanked the Department of Education for supporting the DARE program. (PIA-Pangasinan)
