THE city’s elderly gathered at the Senior Citizen’s Recreational Center on October 1 to celebrate the Elderly Filipino Week Celebration 2016.

With the theme: “Pagmamahal at Respeto ng Nakakabata, Nagpapaligaya sa Nakakatanda” the elderly performed a dance number in a simple ceremony last Saturday with Mayor Belen T. Fernandez as their guest.

The elders also joined the health and wellness seminar at the Model Senior Citizens Center. A medical mission was held for their benefit the following day.

“We also prepared a Barangay Clean and Green to be undertaken by our elderly in their respective barangays and a day for bonding with everyone at the Mayor’s shed at Bonuan Tondaligan,” said Federation of Senior Citizens – Dagupan City Chapter president lawyer Cornelia Espanol.

Fernandez, in her message, promised to increase the budget of the elderly this year “so we can provide them more services and benefits.” She added the city will provide free training monthly to 10 elders on how to use the social media and interne. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
