LINGAYEN—A 34-year-old member of the Castillo Group, known for its notorious illegal drug trade and gun-for-hire activities in the province, was killed in an armed encounter here when the police attempted to serve a warrant of arrest last October 11.

The target of the warrant of arrest for slight physical injuries issued by Judge Edwin Maynigo of the Municipal Trial Court of Lingayen, was Jefferson “Burdado” Gadian, resident of Sitio Aplaya, Barangay Pangapisan North.

The initial police investigation showed Gadiano fired his 9mm pistol twice at the police but missed, forcing them to fire back at him.

The suspect was brought to the nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The scene of the crime operatives recovered the 9mm gun armed with three bullets, two empty shells of 9mm bullets, and six empty shells for M16 rifle.

Gadiano also had a pending case for illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions. (Hilda Austria)
