LINGAYEN — More than 1,000 residents were given access to various health services including free vaccination in Barangay Barlo, Mabini where the 1st Kalusagan Karaban of the provincial government made a stop-over last Sept 23.

Under the theme “Pangkalusugan Serbisyo na Organisado ng Gobyerno Hatid sa Inyo,” it was one of the eight series of mobile health caravans set every Friday in the most disadvantaged barangays of the province.

The program was established after Gov. Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III called for a wider coverage of more effective and efficient implementation of the continuing development thrust programs.

Pangasinan First Lady Karina Espino led the health caravan composed of provincial health workers and the Western Pangasinan District Hospital headed by Dr. Anna Theresa de Guzman and Dra. Susan Merino respectively.

The United Nations Population Fund and Australian Agency International Development (AUSAID) represented by Geri Armamani also joined the team.

Mrs. Espino encouraged Barlo residents to stay healthy everyday, as she assured them that delivering health services to the most needy is a priority of the Espino administration.

The more than 500 students of the Barlo Integrated School and Surod Elementary School were fed bowls of “lugaw” with eggs dispensed with nutrient supplements to boost their immune system.

The preschoolers and Grade 1 pupils received school supplies too.

The fully equipped and air conditioned dental mobile bus manned by dentists served more than 100 students.
