PANGASINAN State University President Dr. Dexter Buted said he did not commit any wrongdoing to deserve a resolution from the Sagguniang Panlalawigan (SP) declaring him persona non grata in Pangasinan.

Buted, who was a former provincial board member in Batangas before his assumption as PSU president, said a persona non grata resolution connotes that he was being rude to someone.

Wala akong binastos sinuman,” he declared in a phone interview by a local Bombo Radyo Dagupan in Manila where he was following up something.

In an earlier interview with The PUNCH after last week’s SP session, he said he has no intention of appearing at all since the investigation is politically motivated. “It’s about politics,” he said.

He maintained the university never showed any disrespect to the provincial board as alleged by two board members (Jeremy Rosario and Raul Sison) by not attending the hearings. He said PSU officials were prevailed upon by the Board of Regents not to attend the hearing of the SP on the matter at hand.

“This means that I can be removed (from my position) if I disobeyed the resolution of the Board of Regents. But in not attending, they have no reason to remove me,” he said.

He said they showed respect for the provincial board by responding to the invitations citing their reasons for not being able to attend.

He promised to submit a copy of the resolution of the PSU Board of Regents to the SP on Monday, Oct. 10.

Kung ano ang utos ng Board of Regents, yon ang aming susundin,” he intoned. “Ang Board of Regents ang siyang governing board ko.”

The Board of Regents has 11 members, one of them is Senator Bam Aquino. The other members are from various government agencies. As president, he is a member of the board.

He called on members of the SP to rethink their proposed resolution declaring him persona non grata.

“If they adopt the resolution, what could be their basis in declaring me as such?” he asked. He said he will respect any decision of the SP on the matter.

As to the complaint of their student Dahrel de la Cruz, he said the complaint was filed with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and not to the PSU.

He asked: “Paano namin siya mabibigyan ng hustisya?” (Leonardo Micua/Nora Dominguez)
