94 families remain in Dagupan evac centers

THERE are still 94 families or 417 persons that remain in five evacuation centers across Dagupan City as of 5:00 a.m. of Oct. 21, according to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).

These were among over 136 families, comprising more than 900 persons who were ordered to go into preemptive evacuation by their barangay officials before Typhoon Lawin’s killer winds and rains hit Dagupan.

At presstime, there are 76 families whose houses at Sitios Fisheries and Calarin in Malued; as well as Pogo Grande are still under water, that remain at the Dagupan Astrodome.

Meanwhile, four families remain in Calmay Pangasinan School, 11 in Calmay Ilocano School, 7 at the Herrero Perez Covered Court and six families at the Barangay 1 Hall.

The evacuation centers in Bonuan Guset , Sabangan Elementary School, Bonuan Binloc, Latter Day Saints (Gomez Chapel and Arellano chapel) Bonuan Boquig National High School and North Central Elementary School in Bonuan Gueset have been cleared.

The Dagupan City government ordered the preemptive evacuation of close to 2,000 persons from 314 families in different low lying barangays before Typhoon Lawin’s calamitous rains and wind could hit Dagupan City Wednesday night till Thursday morning.

The evacuees from Malued, Pantal, Barangays 1, 2 and 3, Poblacion Oeste, Herrero-Perez, Calmay, Pugaro, Carael, Bonuan Gueset, Bonuan Boquig, Bonuan Binloc and Mamalingling, were brought to various public elementary schools in their barangays and some to the main evacuation center at Dagupan People’s Astrodome.

Among the evacuees were 16 persons with disability and their instructor at the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC) in Bonuan.

The road in Barangay Malued leading to the town proper and to adjacent Calasiao town was not passable to all types of motor vehicles and the roads in Poblacion Oesta as well as in Pantal was not passable to light vehicles.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) reported that almost all other parts of the city were under water but still passable to all types of vehicles.
