Stores, restaurants get DOT accreditation

TWENTY-seven business establishments engaged in tourism business in Dagupan City were accredited by the Department of Tourism’s regional office through its mobile services.

City Tourism Officer Sharon Maramba said that the accreditation will help the owners and operators of the tourism establishments upgrade the quality of their services since higher standards will be required of them by the DOT.

“This is aside from the promotion and exposure that they will get once their establishments are included in the DOT list of accredited establishments,” said Maramba.

The mobile accreditation, enabling establishment owners to secure their accreditation without going to the DOT regional office in San Fernando City, La Union, is an initiative of Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to bring the city to a new level of growth as Dagupan gears to be the “Next Wave City” in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, the City Tourism Office has scheduled a seminar on September 23 and 24 for would-be tourist drivers including tricycle drivers, personnel of the City Action Service Team (CAST) and the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) at the city museum.

“The transport groups are the city’s front liners in promoting the city tourist destination and in bringing the city’s tourism industry to a new level,” said Maramba.

On September 17, the City Tourism office will also launch a one-day coastal clean-up drive at the Tondaligan Blue Beach.

Expected to join the clean-up drive are members of the local chapters of Girls Scout of the Philippines, Boys Scouts of the Philippines, the students of different universities and colleges, the personnel of the CAST and the Waste Management Division of the city. (JCB_ CIO)
