THE Region I Medical Center (R1MC) now holds the distinction of being the first government hospital in the country to be accredited with the international standards organization (ISO) 9001:2015 version.

Dr. Edwin Sanchez, assistant regional director of the Department of Health, said RIMC achieved the milestone in DOH history and transformed from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 where the standard is under the British standard and European law.

To sustain its accreditation, R1MC should be open and honest to correct complaints and concerns of their patients, he said.

Chief Executive Officer Ronnie Bernardino of the National Quality Assurance – Philippine team, said the certification shows unequivocal evidence of R1MC’s commitment to ensure the highest level of quality service to clients and compliance with statutory, regulatory and industry requirements.

R1MC Center Chief Dr. Roland Joseph Mejia said the important event is not only for R1MC but for the entire DOH as the center brought prestige to the department for being the first to be accredited on the 2015 version throughout the country.

The whole workforce is indeed proud and humbled with this achievement. R1MC will not stop in its pursuit for excellence in support of the Philippine health agenda,” Mejia said. (VHS_PIA-Pangasinan/Nora Dominguez)
