A TEAM from the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office team formed to probe the alleged involvement of former governor and now Fifth District Rep. Amado Espino Jr., started its investigation last week.

The team initially checked the stockpile of black sand in Barangay Malimpuec where the confiscated equipment and the tons of black sand were located for possible traces of illegal drugs in the premises.

P/Sr. Superintendent Ronald Oliver Lee, acting provincial police director, said the site inspection was part of the investigation of Congressman Espino over his possible involvement in the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison drug as illustrated in a matrix made public by President Duterte last month.

The team also inspected the unfinished golf course area in Barangay Estanza and interviewed residents in the area.

The Sandiganbayan recently ordered the suspension of Cong. Espino for 90 days over the graft case he is facing for the alleged illegal black sand mining activity in Lingayen Gulf when he was governor.

Lee said the team will also inspect some areas in Urbiztondo and some of the listed properties of Mr. Espino. (Nora Dominguez)
