LINGAYEN–The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) maintained that no drug laboratory exists in any place in Region 1 but called on residents to maintain their vigilance.

PDEA Regional Director Jeoffrey Tacio revealed that most drugs filtering into the region are coming from the National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon and Region 4.

It is in these regions where the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation and the PDEA busted several clandestine drug laboratories.

Together with the police, PDEA searched a piggery in Asingan as well as two poultry farms in Laoac. The PNP also conducted an inspection of the premises of the aborted Lingayen Eco-Tourism Zone and the nearly pile of black sand but in all these, no drug laboratory was found.

Tacio recalled that there was only one time in 1999 when some 400 kilos of illegal drugs from a foreign country were landed in Infanta, town.

Meanwhile, he said the situation remains alarming because users are now as young as six years old and as old as 78 years old.

Tacio called on the people to support the campaign against illegal drugs to save the nation as he confirmed that some 700,000 drug pushers and users have already surrendered to the police. (Leonardo Micua)
