Local karatekas haul medals in national open

DAGUPAN- based Filipinas Wado Ryu Karate scored 10 gold, 5 silver, and 2 bronze medals in the Philippine Karatedo Federation National Sports Association Inc. national championship held on Sept. 9 to 10, 2016 at Fisher’s Mall in Quezon City.

The winners are John Enrico Vasquez (2 gold for advance cadet kata and minus 52 kg kumite), Jayson Ramil Macaalay  (gold for seniors minus 60), Shane Enrico Vasquez (gold  for 6 to 7 yrs old), Kris Charisse Santiago (gold  for girls minus 50 kg), JZ Singsing  (2 gold for intermediate kata and minus 61kg), John Paulsen Singsing  (2 gold for intermediate kata and 12 to 13 yrs old boys), Ren Bistudio (gold for novice kata and silver in minus 61kg boy), Alexis louise Nunez (silver for seniors minus 55 boys and bronze  for advance seniors kata), John Marc Claveria (silver for seniors minus 75 kg), Vishnujana Mesina (silver for intermediate kata), John Vincent Singsing (bronze for novice kata), Khyssa Paltep (bronze for 14 to 15 girls kumite) and Jude Michael Uson (2 bronzes  for16 to 17 minus 55 kg and intermediate kata).

The competition was sanctioned by the Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission, according to Alejandro Enrico Vasquez, Philippine Karatedo Federation –NSA Inc. national president and chief instructor of Filipinas Wado Ryu Karate.

The national sports event is a qualifying for Philippine National Training pool and the right to represent the Philippine team in the coming Asian Karate Championships on Nov. 26 to 30, 2016 in Indonesia.

John Enrico and Shane Enrico are sons of Alejandro Enrico Vasquez.

Meanwhile, John Enrico Vasquez is set to leave for Yokohama for 10 days on Oct. 2 for his training in preparation for the Asian Karatedo Federation champions on Nov. 26 to 30. (Tita Roces)
