ALAMINOS CITY—The barangay captain of Pandan was wounded when he was ambushed by two armed men in Barangay Sabangan at 11:30 a.m. of September 14.

The victim, Ricardo Legaspi, 65, was bound for home on board the barangay vehicle, an L-300 close van, when two armed men from the roadside opened fire hitting him in the left arm.

Despite his wound, he managed to drive his vehicle to their home where he asked for help.

Investigation showed the incident happened when the vehicle bearing the barangay captain was negotiating a sharp curve.

Legaspi was rushed to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital in Alaminos where he is now recovering.

Recovered from the victim’s vehicle were: five slugs and two fired cartridges believed to be from a Caliber .45 pistol.

Motive of the slay attempt is still being determined. (Leonardo Micua)
