ELEMENTS of Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Regional Public Safety Battalion in Pangasinan, courtesy of the State of National Emergency, will only assist the police in conducting checkpoint operations to help neutralize terroristic activities and not for anti-drug operations.

This was clarified by Supt. Ferdinand de Asis, information officer of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, (PPPO) during the KBP FORUM on Thursday.

Elements of the 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army from Camp Tito Abat in Manaoag town have been deployed in cities of Urdaneta and Dagupan, both centers of education, and beehives of commercial activities.

Meanwhile, elements of the 3rd Mechanized Battalion of the Philippine Army and the Regional Public Safety Battalion were posted to conduct checkpoints in Infanta and Dasol, border towns of Pangasinan with Zambales.

He said the deployment of AFP troopers and members of RPSB in the border towns will see to it that no terrorists or armed elements from Zambales will enter Pangasinan. (Leonardo Micua)
