Shabu den in Barangay Pantal busted

A BUY-bust operation in Sitio Aling, Barangay Pantal, a notorious area in Dagupan City known for source of shabu, resulted in the arrest of six persons including the drug peddler, midnight of August 2.

The target, an unsuspecting Renato Liwanag, alias Ato, was promptly arrested by combined elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1) and the Philippine National Police, after he sold shabu to an anti-narcotics agent.

Also arrested were 5 drug users (4 males and 1 female) who were caught in the middle of a shabu-sniffing session, passing around tooters when the police operatives chanced upon them inside the house owned by a Christian De Vera.

In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña by PDEA RO1 Regional Director Jeoffrey C. Tacio, the suspects were identified as 35-year-old Jonald Rosario also known as Dan, 28-year-old Manny Santos alias Ang, 45-year-old Darwin Bato aka Jojo, 28-year-old Christian De Vera aka Ekong, and 21-year-old Michelle Miramis.

All suspects tested positive after drug test conducted in the PDEA RO1 laboratory.

Initial investigation revealed that the raided house is frequented by addicts and reportedly hosts 30 visitors a day. It is estimated to earn P20,000 daily.

Confiscated along with the 54 grams of shabu with street value of P162,000, were drug paraphernalia consisting of used foils, stainless scissors, distorted lighters and tooters. The buy-bust money and cellphone used for the transaction were recovered. (PDEA RO1)
