LINGAYEN–To enhance the mobility of 30 persons with disabilities (PWDs), the provincial government has provided them with assistive devices.

The assistive devices like wheelchairs, crutches and adult walkers were handed over by Governor Amado Espino III and Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) Officer Emilio Samson to the PWD-beneficiaries who attended the PWD Sensitivity Training held recently at the President Hotel here.

The event was in observance of the 38th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week in July.

“Let us do our best to other people especially PWDs if we are able,” he said and appealed to representatives from the education and private sectors who participated in the training.

Judith Cabillo, PSWDO focal person on NPDR, said the 30 assistive devices comprise only the first batch of distribution but their office is still set to distribute and deliver the remaining 153 assistive devices right at the doorsteps of other PWD-recipients.

The provincial government also awarded cash incentives to PWDs who participated in the Philippine Sports for Differently Abled (PHILSPADA) – National Paralympic Games held last March.

Winners received cash incentives amounting to P8,000 for gold medalists, P6,000 for silver medalists, and P4,000 for bronze medalists while non-winners received P2,000 each. (PIA-1, Pangasinan)
