BALI INTERNATIONAL CHOIR FESTIVAL

LINGAYEN – The Caboloan Performing Arts Guild (CPAG) of Pangasinan State University (PSU) bagged a gold medal in the recently concluded 5th Bali International Choir Festival held on July 25-31 in Bali, Indonesia.

CPAG won in the Mixed Choir category with its rendition of “Rosas Pandan” arranged by George Hernandez and “Soleram” arranged by Fabian Obispo defeating 14 chorale groups from Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, France, USA, and Thailand.

“Everyone in the team is rejoicing because it is our first time to compete internationally since the chorale’s foundation in 2006. We still couldn’t believe we won, having competed against other best choirs in the world,” said Romary Lincod, Deputy Director of Culture, Arts and Pangasinan Heritage Studies (CPAG).

Lincod expressed his gratitude to the people behind the chorale’s success, particularly Dr. Dexter R. Buted, university president, who organized the chorale and CPAG’s conductors, Giovanni Sindayen and Ruby Keith Sison “for their love, dedication and patience in teaching the students.”

Founded in July 2000, Bali International Choir Festival was founded by Tommyanto Kandisaputra. (NBS_PSU)
