LINGAYEN – The Pangasinan Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) will hold this year’s fifth installment of its Capacity Enhancement Training (CET) under the “Bantay-Barangay, Tulong-Hanapbuhay” (BBTH) program on August 23 in Binmaley for its OFWFA barangay coordinators and zone volunteers.

“Its main strategy is to promote volunteerism and self-reliance among OFW families and equip them to protect their communities from exploitive elements,” PESO manager Alex Ferrer said.

Ferrer said that since the program’s launch in August 2014, BBTH has enabled the 44 towns and 3 cities in the province form their respective OFW family groups and linked them altogether into a federation.

The volunteers are tasked not only to create further awareness among OFW families about illegal recruiters and to report drug abuse cases but to become employment, livelihood and training focal persons in their respective barangays.

Ferrer said that this program is one of the main projects carried on by Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino, III from his precursor, now Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr. of the fifth district.

The next rounds of the training will be in: Asingan, Aug. 24; Binalonan, Aug. 31; Sison, September 7; Anda, Sept. 14; Malasiqui, Sept. 21; and Dasol, Sept. 28.

CETs were already held in Bugallon, April 22; Manaoag, June 14; San Jacinto, June 21; and Mangaldan, Aug. 10. Also, a preceding interim training for OFWFA committee on education and training chairpersons was held last January 28-29 at the Capitol Resort Hotel, Capitol Compound here.

Matuto sa Eksperto”, another platform to boost manpower and business management skills of beneficiaries and other new small enterprise proprietors, is set on Aug. 26 at the PESO Building. (RCL_PIO)
