Councilor Tamayo is PCL prexy in Dagupan

MEMBERS of the Sangguniang Panlungsod here elected City Councilor Jose Netu M. Tamayo as new president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Dagupan City Chapter succeeding City Councilor Maybelyn Rose dela Cruz-Fernandez in an election held on August 9 at Jam Sweet Jam Restaurant.

Tamayo was the unanimous choice for the presidency. He is currently the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s Deputy Presiding Officer. He chairs the Committee on Peace and Order; Committee on Dangerous Drugs; Committee on Education; Committee on Land Utilization; Committee on Public Information and Media; and the Committee on Laws, Ordinances and Judiciary.

Councilor Tamayo is now on his second term after making a comeback in 2013, after completing three terms in 2010. He started his political career in 2001 when he ran for the first time as city councilor.

Elected as vice-president was Councilor Alvin T. Coquia with Councilor Jeslito C. Seen as secretary general, Councilor Marvin V. Fabia as treasurer, Councilor Dennis Canto as auditor, Councilor Luis M. Samson Jr. as Press Relations Officer, Councilor Redford Christian P. Erfe-Mejia as business manager and councilors Nicanor D. Aquino and Guillermo P. Vallejos as members of the Board of Directors.

Tamayo’s predecessor councilor Maybelyn Fernandez is currently the incumbent national president of the PCL until March, 2017.

The election was administered by the Department of the Interior and Local Government city director Rhoderick M. Dawis along with Dr. Helario T. Caminero, executive director, PCL Legislative Academy and Councilor Peter Thomas Reyes, PCL Regional Chairman of Region 4.
