ATTY. Kenneth Bid-ing, jail warden of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Dagupan District was recently named “the best city jail warden” again in the country by the national headquarters.

Bid-ing was first cited as the best warden last year.

The selection was based on his performance from July last year up to July this year.

Bid-ing said BJMP Dagupan focused on addressing the congestion problem of inmates in the facility and the facilitation of the inmates’ cases.

BJMP Dagupan has 980 male inmates and 170 female inmates or a population of 1, 150 inmates in a facility that was intended for only 300.

Bid-ing said they are still continuing with the expansion plans since an increased number of inmates is expected due to the intensive campaign against illegal drugs.

“We are constructing a multi-purpose building with the help of the city government and non-government organizations (NGO’s) to prepare for more inmates”, said Bid-ing.

Meanwhile, reformative activities related to education, religion, health and community service and introduction to livelihood programs are continuing.

“And if we can think of more activities that will be helpful to the inmates, we will implement it”, said Bid-ing.

He thanked the city government and NGO’s and asked for their support to BJMP Dagupan. (Hilda Austria)
