TWICE-A-YEAR TESTING

LINGAYEN— To boost efforts of the provincial government in the campaign against illegal drugs, Gov. Amado Espino III said he wants to require all employees of the provincial government not only to take a drug test once but twice a year.

In an interview last July 20, Mr. Espino said he has already discussed his plan with department heads in the Capitol to require drug testing of all employees every six months.

“Hindi pwedeng once a year kase may mga drugs ‘ata na nawawala ng six months,” he said.

He added he will be meeting with chiefs of hospitals tomorrow to discuss the resources.

Meanwhile, he said he has an open line with acting provincial director of the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office, P/Senior Supt. Ronald Lee, about updates on the growing number of self-confessed drug users/pushers.

“I will suggest, dahil most of nagsu-surrender ay galing sa munisipyo, kung anong maitutulong natin sa munisipyo rin,” he said.

He said the government is ready to assist those who surrender as he praised the intentions of those who confess and surrender since these benefit them and the communities.

Further, Espino disclosed the plan to relocate the provincial jail and establishing a rehabilitation center in Dasol town. (Johanne R. Macob)
