MAYOR Belen T. Fernandez is happy to note that young Dagupeños are making history in the fields of music, sports and academics these days here and in the international scene.

On July 16, the Balon Dagupan Children Choir (BDCC) made history when they won the Malaysia International Children Choral Festival 2016 in Sah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia and received the Shah Alam Mayor Award as the overall champion in their first international competition.

The BDCC also received the Gold A Grade Award for their outstanding performance and the Most Promising Choir (Overseas) Award.

“Members of the Balon Dagupan Children’s Choir are determined to show their talents worldwide. We will continue to develop our children by giving them the best quality of scholarship in music. The Balon Dagupan Orchestra is also one of our priorities. Mabuhay kayong lahat! You made history for our city!” said Fernandez.

Meanwhile, a group of Dagupeño students will compete in different international competitions to represent the country.

Divine Word Academy students will compete in the World Robot Games in Indonesia while St. Albert the Great students will be competing in the ASEAN Quiz in Laos.

The students of Dagupan City National High School and West Central 1 Elementary School will be competing in Math Wizard competitions in Thailand, China and Singapore.

“I am proud of our students and I assure them of my full support in all their competitions. Thanks to DepEd Dagupan officials, education program supervisors, principals and teachers led by our child-friendly Superintendent Froserina Bravo because our good partnership in education also results in good performance of our students. Let’s make history!” said Fernandez.

Four students of Judge Jose De Venecia Sr. Memorial National High School will also represent the country in the International Basketball Federation or FIBA Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 20-24. (Joseph C. Bacani/CIO)
