Gov. Pogi Kicks-Off Weekly Coastal Clean-up Drive

Lingayen- – -Gov. Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III spearheaded the provincial government’s environmental advocacy last July 22 through voluntary cleaning of surrounding specifically at the Capitol beachfront which he launched as one of his first directives among provincial officials, chiefs of offices and employees.

The kick off activity, which will be held every Friday at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, was participated in by almost 200 individuals to include some volunteers from the Phil. National Police (PNP) and members of the Pangasinan Football Club.

Earlier, the governor issued among his first directives a memorandum which required all provincial officials, department heads, and rank and file employees to participate in the clean-up drive every Fridays. Each building within the Capitol Compound that house different offices will have their specific schedule of cleaning.

In its initial drive, Gov. Pogi expressed commendation over the support given by all employees and also the volunteers.

Expressing elation he said that he hopes to see the number of volunteers increasing so that the clean-up drive would sink in to the consciousness of every Pangasinense as a daily routine.

Offices with at least 15 employees each were given strategic areas to clean.

The offices located at the Malong Building precede the Capitol Building offices on July 29.

Gov. Pogi disclosed that during his term as mayor of Bautista town, he initiated the 4 o’clock habit among the municipal employees which was later on participated by students.

The activity, he said, will not only serve as a regular commitment among employees but bonding time, as well, further stating that tree planting activities will likewise be included to maximize the effort of protecting the environment.

As such, Gov. Pogi encouraged all employees to invite other sectors specifically the students to join the clean-up drive.

The Governor likewise appealed to all Pangasinense to show love for the environment and make cleanliness a daily part of their lives. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
