HUNDREDS of skilled skateboarders from different parts of Luzon converged at the CSI Stadia in Dagupan City on June 26 to participate in the Go Skateboarding Day 2016.

Various competitions were held to test the skills of the skateboarders.

The early winners were: Dan Mak Feliciano of Pampanga (longest gap competition for jumping over 14 boards), Eric Casaclang of Lingayen (Highest Ollie). Kikiam of La Union (Kick Flip Challenge after doing 21 kick flips in a row), Sam Carera of Urdaneta (Best Run Class A) and Iking Diaz of Baguio City (Best Trick), Jermaine Lavetoria of Villasis (youngest skater, and (Best Run Class B).

JM Kulot, as his friends call him, started skateboarding when he was only eight years old.

Nakita ko lang po sa mga kaibigan ko tapos sinubukan ko din po hanggang sa natuto na lang din po ako,” he shared. Despite his young age, JM has been competing in skateboarding competitions all over the country.

Go Skateboarding Day is an official annual holiday conceived by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) to promote skateboarding.

Gusto naming alisin sa mata ng ibang tao na pag skater, rebelde, mga pasaway, mga addict. Gusto naming ipakita na united pa rin kami sa Pangasinan.” Jai Hernandez, one of the organizers of the event, pointed out. (Nora Susara, OJT).
