SECOND District Board Member Raul Sison found himself invoking the power and authority of a citizen’s arrest when he caught and confronted a group having a pot session in a house in Barangay Talogtog, Mangatarem town.

Mr. Sison said he responded to a report from Barangay Captain Glen Tamondong seeking his help to stop and arrest persons who were known to be having a drug-session inside a house.

He told The PUNCH in a phone interview that he was unmindful of the risks involved in arresting the group until after the incident.

“It’s only now that I realized what if they were armed? What if they shot me and I got killed?” he said.

He said these thoughts were lost to him initially when he knew he had a duty to perform to his district and country.

Meanwhile, he endorsed the person whom he managed to arrest to the government-owned Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Dagupan City. The other suspects managed to scamper away when they realized he was alone and unarmed.

BM Sison said he risked using the power of citizen arrest but when the arrested suspect’s father thanked him for his assistance, he felt the risk was worth it all. (Tita Roces)
