Dagupan is again open for business

ICT-BPM ROAD MAP

MAYOR Belen T. Fernandez officially opened the doors of the city for business following the successful ICT-BPM conference with industry executives for the launching of the ICT-BPM Roadmap, hosted by the city on July 22 at CSI Stadia.

The launch is expected to draw more IT companies to set up shops in the city and createmore jobs as predicted by the study conducted by the ICT-BPM that the city has a pool of talents ready to be tapped.

“We are rolling out the red carpet to welcome you all to our humble city whose great people offer a great promise to all who may seek great opportunities to grow with us,” said Mayor Fernandez.

Fernandez also received from Jonathan De Luzuriaga, president of the Software Industry, the city’s ICT-BPM roadmap that could put Dagupan in the world map as ideal site for new investments.

“With the recent approval of the city’s new Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Zoning Ordinance, “we are rewriting our next chapter of growth for our people,” said Ms. Fernandez.

The mayor disclosed plans of the city to establish a new city center that will make Dagupan “the nucleus of development in Pangasinan and Region 1.”

She cited 3 new growth centers, namely Bonuan, the Manguin-Tebeng and the Lucao-Pantal.

She said plans, integrated with the city’s new Comprehensive Land Use Plan for the year 2015 to 2025, to build new IT parks at the midway zone and as the new base for our ICT-BPM enterprises and industries, are in place.

“We are set to build a new government center and various tourism facilities. We have set our new areas for mixed used offices for future development, institutional buildings, residential developments, a new fishport, a new transport terminal, among many of the exciting developments that is set to take place anytime now,” Ms. Fernandez told the participants.

“We believe that we cannot just continue to grow and plan later. Our challenge and our commitment to all is to create Dagupan as a new and better model of development for 21st century economies, to build a shared prosperity and the future we want where we shall now optimize the power of ICT-BPMs to support and sustain our development,” Ms. Fernandez added.

The mayor cited the strong presence of the broadest spectrum of stakeholders as a testimony to the city government’s resolve to fully exploit the full potential of ICT-BPM.

“My dear friends, Dagupan City is about and ready to be part of ICT-BPM-driven economies and our doors are indelibly marked for the whole country and the world to see. Hence, in behalf of the people of Dagupan, allow me to make this declaration: “WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS!” (JCB_CIO)
