Conrado Estrella’s autobiography set to be launched on Aug. 19
ROSALES—The autobiography of Conrado F. Estrella, one of Pangasinan’s pride and most popular sons, will be launched on August 19 in Barangay Carmen here, on the occasion of his 99th birthday.
Titled “Thoughts And Truths Under Five Presidents”, the 200-page book says, “The narrative of Conrado F. Estrella speaks of the how and the why of his time and his era. The thoughts and moments he put down on paper are his fondest memories, and his strongest convictions. The life he lived he sought to put in writing, to capture the what and the who and the when. More importantly, he provides snapshots and vignettes of the statesmen and leaders of a bygone era, a time which we have much to learn from, and values which we must strive to live by once more.”
Bernadette Estrella-Arellano, Estrella’s daughter, said her father started writing it together with his editor who died ahead of him, prompting the family to look for another writer to finish the book after sometime.
In the book, Estrella talked about his family, his siblings, precious friends and opinions and thoughts about what was happening behind the scenes during Cabinet meetings. Estrella served under President Ramon Magsaysay to President Ferdinand Marcos.
Known to many as ‘Tata Condring’, ‘Daddy Dado’, his book cover has five stars below his name representing his five children. (Tita Roces)
