75 drug personalities arrested, 80 surrender

THE campaign contra illegal drugs in in the province shifted to high gear since President Rodrigo R. Duterte took his oath last June 30.

UPDATE: Eighteen more drug personalities surrendered on July 7 in various towns of Pangasinan, according to a police report. Those who surrendered are: 11 in Calasiao, 4 in Binmaley, 2 in Sta. Barbara, and 1 in Sison.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) reported 75 drug personalities were arrested in 59 anti-illegal drug operations conducted by the different police stations while 80 personalities voluntarily surrendered in the province from July 1 to 6.

P/Supt. Jackie Candelario, PPPO information officer said, most of the arrested drug personalities were in the top 10 drug watch list of the towns and the buy-bust operations netted 27. 925 grams of shabu with market value of Php 181, 512.

In July 4 alone, PPPO’s “One time big time” operation collared 40 drug personalities.

In Infanta, police served the arrest warrant for Villamor Lozano, 57, and it resulted in the confiscation of two sachets of shabu and other drug paraphernalia from his custody.

In Malasiqui, Rogelio De Luna, resident of Barangay Palong and the third top drug personality, was arrested together with Ricky Mejia of barangay Nalsian Norte. Police seized seven sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia from De Luna and two sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia from Mejia.

In San Manuel, police failed to serve the search warrant to Laila Sumajit of Sitio Sagpat Barangay Guiset Sur, also under a drug personality in the watch list, but police seized two sachets of shabu and three empty sachets with residue of suspected shabu from her house. Instead, police arrested her mother Gloria Sumajit, 63, and her brother Isagani Sumajit, 31.

In Villasis, the town’s top drug personality, Remegio Lopez Jr., 51, resident of Barangay Caramutan was arrested in possession of one bulk sachet of shabu, one caliber 9mm Jericho loaded with magazine, 22 live shotgun ammos, two pieces live ammos of caliber 45 and drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested in the town were one with alias ‘Macala,’ Alfredo Comilang Jr. and Roxanne Biduya who were caught having a shabu sniffing session.

In Burgos, Freda Beltran, 32 of Barangay San Pascual and Marvin Maga, 36, of Barangay Poblacion were arrested after one plastic sachet each and drug paraphernalia were found in their residences respectively.

In San Carlos City, incumbent barangay councilman Cristobal De Vera, 44, the fifth top drug personality in the city, was arrested after two sachets of shabu, guns, ammunitions and drug paraphernalia were found in his possession. Also arrested in De Vera’s residence was Nelson Tamondong, 50 of Barangay Rizal.

In Anda, the third top drug personality Felicisimo “Jun Kakok” Carpo Jr, 37, resident of Sitio Tomoro Barangay Poblacion was collared for possessing two sachets of shabu, nine open sachets with residue of suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia.

In Dasol, police armed with a search warrant found one sachet of shabu, thirteen pieces open sachets with residue of suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia in the house of the town’s top drug personality Erlinda “Puraw” Lumague in Barangay Eguia.

In Bayambang, Benigno Junio, 59, resident of Barangay Pugo was arrested for possessing two sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

In San Jacinto, operatives arrested Nestor Fernandez Jr, 31, of Barangay Guibel in a buy-bust operation after finding three sachets of suspected shabu in his custody.

In Manaoag, Danilo Prangajn, 53, of Aquino Street Poblacion, a priority drug personality, was arrested in a buy-bust operation after selling a sachets of shabu to a poseur buyer. On the same day, Ronald Sagun, 29, of Barangay Pugaro was also arrested in a buy-bust operation.

In San Nicolas, Randy “Anding” Onoza, 41, of Barangay Nagkaysa, fourth top drug personality in the town was arrested in a buy-bust operation.

In Bugallon, Alfredo “Pedong” Ballesteros, the town’s sixth top drug personality was also arrested in a buy-bust operation.

Meanwhile, Candelario said three drug personalities were killed during an operation but did not give more details except to say “it was a legitimate operation.”

He said the suspects were killed by responding police when the suspects reacted violently that threatened their safety and civilians in the vicinity during the operation.

Meanwhile, Candelario said the 80 drug personalities who voluntarily surrendered to various police stations are being processed to determine if their names can be removed from the watch list.

“They have to go through rehabilitation and continuous recovery from addictionand involvement in illegal drugs”, said Candelario. (Hilda Austria)
