Vice mayor’s security man shot dead
VILLASIS–The bodyguard of the incumbent vice mayor of Rosales town was gunned down and killed by one of two men at about 6:35 a.m. of May 31, along the Puelay-Barangobong Road in Barangay Puelay, Villasis town.
The victim, identified as Michael De Guzman, alias Mike, 49, a resident of Villasis, was a bodyguard and security escort of Vice Mayor Harry Bernabe of Rosales.
Initial investigation showed the victim was riding his motorcycle along the Puelay-Barangobong road when the suspects from inside a parked Toyota Fortuner SUV with no plate number shot the victim with handguns as the victim passed by.
De Guzman was hit on different parts of his body but despite his wounds he was able to drive his motorcycle several meters more till he collapsed and fell from his motorcycle.
Two suspects who alighted from the vehicle, walked towards the victim and fired some more shots in different parts of his body.
After the attack, the suspects took the victim’s sling bag, a Cal. 45 pistol and two magazines of the same caliber tucked in his waist and immediately fled towards the north going to Malasiqui, Pangasinan.
Recovered from the crime scene were 14 fired cartridges of Cal. 45 pistol and one deformed fired bullet.
Recovered from the possession of the victim were his leather wallet which contained one plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, one inside holster, magazine pouch, Php13,443 cash money, and one wrist watch.
