Suspect in Rosario’s failed assassination nabbed

MANGALDAN–The suspected gunman in the shooting of former Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Jeremy Agerico Rosario was arrested by joint elements of 4th District Race Tracker Team and Special Investigation Task Group Rosario on June 20 here.

P/Superintendent Benjamin Ariola, Mangaldan town police chief, identified the suspect as Mario Castillo, 46, resident of Barangay Bolo, San Jacinto town who has a warrant of arrest for frustrated murder issued by Judge Tita Obinaro of Branch 45, Urdaneta City dated April 22, 2016.

The recommended bail for his temporary liberty was P200,000.

Castillo was the suspect in the shooting of Dr. Jeremy Agerico Rosario.

Rosario, who is an incoming board member of Pangasinan fourth district, thanked Pangasinan police led by P/Sr. Superintendent Edgar Alan Okubo for their unrelenting efforts in solving crimes.

He said motive for the attempt on his life was work-related and expressed hope that the mastermind will also eventually be arrested.

Rosario, who was on his way home after visiting Mapandan Community Hospital, was wounded in a gun attack perpetrated by unidentified hitmen riding in tandem on a motorcycle on March 11, 2015 along Barangay Baritao, Manaoag town.

Rosario was the concurrent hospital chief at that time. (Tita Roces)
