Second Tinapa Festival held in Rosales

ROSALES—The municipality of Rosales staged its second Tinapa (smoked fish) Festival alongside the town’s celebration of Philippine Independence Day in cooperation with SM City Rosales last June 11.

Tinapa is one of the popular products of the town.

Roselle Gale, public relations officer of SM City said a ceremonial lighting of the “Kawa” (big frying pan) signaled the start of the 101 ways to cook Tinapa which were later served in a boodle fight shared by municipal and SM officials.

Tinapa street dancers also performed during the event.

Meanwhile, a giant book pop-up (measuring twelve feet wide, nine feet long, two feet thick) was on display to commemorate the Philippine Independence Day.

“This is in line with Dr. Jose Rizal’s remarks that to foretell the nation’s destiny, it is necessary to open the book that tells of her past”, said Gale.

The unveiling of the giant book was headed by national artist F. Sionel Jose, who hails from the town and known for his books such as the Rosales Saga. (Hilda Austria)
