City Hall, LNU, PDA launch ‘Smile Dagupan’

THE Dagupan City government in cooperation with Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU) and the Philippine Dental Association (PDA), Pangasinan Chapter launched on June 8 at Barangay Pantal a free basic dental health services dubbed as ‘Smile Dagupan’ to benefit low-income families of Dagupan.

On that day, the city, represented by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the LNU represented by the university president Dr. Francisco Duque III and the dean of the university’s College of Dentistry Dr. Evangeline F. Padlan and the PDA, Pangasinan Chapter represented by its local chapter president Dr. Liza Codilla expressing their willingness to be part of the city’s ‘Smile Dagupan’ program in extending dental services to indigent families.

Accordingly, the ‘Smile Dagupan’ program will go to the barangays using the city’s first Dental Health Bus from the Department of Health every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 in the morning to 12 noon.

Along with the city’s dental team, LNU’s College of Dentistry and the PDA, Pangasinan Chapter will render tooth extraction, restoration and dental prophylaxis for free.

“Free dentures will be provided to selected patients in exceptional cases provided that the beneficiary belongs to the low-income class of our community,” said Mayor Fernandez.

Joining the signing of the MOU were Pantal Punong Barangay Julita F. Perez and members of the barangay council.
