MANGALDAN—A local television reporter of ABS-CBN Dagupan was elected municipal councilor here.

Aldrin Soriano, 24, substituted for his father, then re-electionist Councilor Alfredo Soriano, who died during the campaign due to heat stroke.

The elder Soriano was to seek his third term.

“This is for daddy. Truth is, he advised me then to take his place once he finished his term as he wanted his legacy in public service continued,” the young Soriano said.

Soriano who ran under the Liberal Party said he was overwhelmed by the result because he only had time to campaign for two weeks after his father was laid to his final resting place. (Tita Roces)
