TO ensure no power interruption or disturbance occurred during the May 9 election and subsequent canvassing of votes on May 10, NGCP’s Power Task Force Election (PTFE) 2016, headed by the Department of Energy (DOE), operated round the clock beginning 8 May 2016.

The power system condition and restoration activities were monitored hourly, and reports from the Regional Command Centers were received and submitted to the DOE and other external agencies. A Satellite Command Center also operated round the clock in Pangasinan and in other provinces.

The corporation will resume its regular maintenance activities and expansion projects on May 17

Meanwhile, as the El Nino season peaks, NGCP steps up its campaign to warn the public against forming and spreading grassfires, especially in rural areas.

“Not only is grassfire hazardous to the health of the people, it also poses a threat to power transmission facilities, particularly wood poles. If these structures are burnt, our transmission services might be interrupted,” stated NGCP.

The company said the smoke from grassfires alone can cause tripping of transmission lines.
