JDV: Duterte-Robredo tandem, good for the nation
LINGAYEN— Former Speaker of the House Joe De Venecia said that a Duterte-Robredo leadership is “good for the nation.”
“If they work together, and I hope they will, they’ll be able to unite the nation, provided that each one provides the other with sufficient space,” said Mr. De Venecia on Tuesday, May 10, as Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Rep. Leni Robredo continued to lead the presidential and vice presidential race.
However, De Venecia, in an interview after the proclamation of his son Christopher as fourth district representative, clarified that he didn’t want to make any further statement until the canvassing of the votes are officially completed.
He added, though, “But it’s a good fight between Robredo and Bongbong (Marcos), with Robredo seeming to have a reasonable lead.”
De Venecia also described Robredo “like a gentle storm that’s beginning to sweep the land with her message of truth and simplicity.” (Johanne Macob)
