TO ensure that this year’s election will be peaceful, some 4,000 uniformed personnel from the police, military and force multipliers will be deployed in the province’s 44 towns and four cities.

P/Supt. Ferdinand de Asis, spokesperson of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO), told the KBP Forum here that 2,000 of which will be deployed by PPPO and will further be augmented by 500 policemen from the regional and national headquarters.

Meanwhile, de Asis said 10 days before the elections, Pangasinan remains very peaceful notwithstanding the 45 shooting incidents only from January to April this year. There were 251 shooting incidents recorded last year.

He attributed it to the intensified police operations that included the serving of arrest and search warrants and establishment of numerous checkpoints.

To date, he said 127 firearms had been seized for violation of the gun ban and only two election-related violent incidents had been recorded and validated, one in Sison and Urbiztondo. (Tita Roces)
