Oplan Baklas did not spare Roxas’ tarps

OPERATION One-Time, Big Time Baklas waged by the Commission on Elections in Dagupan has spared no one, not even the yellow flyers and tarpaulins of administration candidates Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo hanging on both sides of Quintos Bridge.

The personnel of the city engineering office, who were mobilized by the City Election Office, to remove these campaign materials had to clamber up the railings of the Quintos Bridge to remove the campaign materials of Roxas and Robredo.

P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, chief of the Dagupan City police, said that this was the fourth “Operation Baklas” done so far in Dagupan City and this is still continuing.

He explained during the KBP Forum in Dagupan that “Operation One-Time Big Time Baklas” is a project of the Comelec and the police and other government agencies are merely deputized to assist.

The Operation Baklas in Dagupan City is being spearheaded by Atty. Nathaniel Saiden, acting city election officer with Abrahano as vice chairman.

Saiden recently made a courtesy call on Mayor Belen Fernandez and informed her of the conduct of Operation Baklas in the city.

Michael Sarmiento, municipal election officer in Lingayen, said in the same forum the operation is also being done in his town as well as in other towns and cities of Pangasinan.

He said in San Carlos City where he was the city election officer before being re-assigned to Lingayen, Operation Baklas was started as early as February.

“You can go to San Carlos City and you can not see campaign materials posted in places other than the authorized poster areas,” he said. (Leonardo Micau)
