Mapandan bikefest on April 17

FORTY Pangasinan prominent amateur riders and 20 from neighboring provinces will seek to outride with each other in the Mapandan bikefest on April 17, a feature of the town fiesta.

Dubbed as the “2016 Mapandan Cycling Challenge,” the annual cycling road will start and finish across the municipal hall and to traverse five times the town’s barangays of Aserda, Torres, Lambayan, then Catablan of Urdaneta City, Menien, Tebag, Banaoang, Ventinilla, Maningding, Tuliao, Gueguesangen of Sta. Barbara, Guesgueangen of Mangaldan, Nilombot, Golden and Poblacion of the host town with an approximate distance of 130 kilometers.

The top three winners will pocket P5,000, P4,000 and P3,000, correspondingly with trophy each while fourth and fifth placers will collect P2,000 and P1,000, respectively and medal apiece.
“This is our contribution to develop our cyclists in the province,” said Mapandan chief executive Maximo Calimlim, Jr. “Our other aim is to give them gain experience and measure their vigor which I believe they can use it in bigger races in the near future,” Calimlim averred.
The 60 participants will be flagged off by Mayor Calimlim at 11:00. (JAG, Jr.)
