Former cop shot dead by suspected vigilantes

‘DDS’ STRUCK AGAIN

A FORMER policeman assigned in Manila with cases of carjacking and theft in the different parts of the province was shot by gun-for-hire men on April 27 in Sitio China Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City.

The victim was identified by the Dagupan City Police Station (DCPS) as Jovenol Bigtas, 30, a native of Barangay Buenlag, Mangaldan and presently residing in the city.

Bigtas left his house momentarily and as he was about to return, the first tandem riders appeared and shot him first at close range then fled. Another tandem riders appeared and again shot the victim while lying bleeding on the ground.

Recovered from the crime scene were two slugs, four empty cartridges of caliber 45 pistol and a note with a message that read “Wag Tularan Carnapper, Magnanakaw kami brought to you by DDS”.

The group DDS has claimed responsibility for the killing of a number of notorious drug peddlers and robbers last year.

Based on the investigation of the DCPS, the victim has a carjacking case in Mapandan, theft in Dagupan City and listed as person of interest by the Mangaldan Police Station. (Hilda Austria)
