BAUTISTA–A municipal councilor of Bayambang town was hurt while a tricycle driver whose tricycle he reportedly hit died in a road accident night of March 6 along Barangay Nibaliw Norte here.

Dead was Renato Esmeña, 57, married, resident of Poblacion West this town while injured was Councilor Joseph Vincent Ramos, 26, of Bayambang.

Police investigation showed that the tricycle driven by Esmeña was bumped from behind by a speeding Honda Civic driven by Ramos.

Due to the strong impact, dragged the tricycle some meters before the Honda Civic turned upside down.

Esmeña was rushed to Sto Niño Hospital in Bayambang by the police but was pronounced dead on arrival while Ramos, who was also rushed to the same hospital, was treated for his minor injuries.

The police filed a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property against Ramos through inquest proceeding. (Tita Roces)
