LINGAYEN— The local government of Sta. Barbara received a total of P5.767 million for its bottom-up-budgeting (BUB) projects from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Agriculture (DA).

However, according to DTI Region 1 director Florante Leal, the town’s BUB projects will be implemented by the provincial government because Sta. Barbara failed to comply with one of the requirements of the partner-agencies.

The DTI projects amounted to P2 million while P3.767 million is allocated for DA projects. .

Leal said the P2 million DTI-BUB project is for the streamlining of business permits and licensing system that will require computer hardware, software, and training of end-users.

“The project,” Leal said, “will simplify the processing of business permits and licensing by shortening the processing period and reducing the number of signatories.”

Meanwhile, the DA BUB program covers the request of Sta. Barbara Mayor Carlito Zaplan for the purchase of a truck to be used to transport farm produce, particularly, palay to millers, among others, while P767,000 of the DA fund will be used for the improvement of the town’s water impounding systems as directed by Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr.

Mr. Espino said the BUB projects are ready for bidding.

In Region 1, 60-70 percent of the total DTI-BUB projects are allocated to Pangasinan, Leal said. (Johanne Macob)
