Muslim community leader arrested

ILLEGAL DRUG RAID

A prominent and influential woman in the Muslim community in Sitio Silungan, Barangay Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City was arrested in a raid by lawmen at her house on February 16, at about 5:45 p.m.

According to Dagupan police chief, P/Supt. Christopher Abrahano, Casana Mitumug, alias Babumani Ampuan, 63, a widow, was arrested by virtue of the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Marie Ellen Aguilar of Branch 70 in Burgos town.

Also arrested were Jalila Dibaratun, 29; Maimona Dibaratun, 47; Mongue Debaratun, 18; and Abedin Mayaman, 21,who were all inside Mitumug’s house, a suspected drug den, when the raid took place.

The search warrant was served by the combined elements of the Dagupan City Police Station, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, Police Provincial Office and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

Seized from Mitumug’s house were 3 big heat sealed plastic sachets, 10 small plastic sachets all containing shabu and other drug paraphernalia; one Caliber 38 snub-nose revolver without serial number and live bullets, 3 cellphones and P3,620.00 cash. (Leonardo Micua)
