DOLE opens SPES application for students
THE Department of Labor and Employment has announced the opening of the application for the Special Program for the Employment for Students (SPES) this summer.
Engracio Bailon, chief of DOLE-Central Pangasinan, said the SPES is open to students aged 15-25 years old who are willing to work during summer.
Interested students must apply in person at PESO.
SPES is mandated under Republic Act No. 9547 otherwise known as “An Act To Help Poor But Deserving Students Pursue Their Education By Encouraging Their Employment During Summer and/or Christmas Vacations.”
As incentive to employers, they would only pay 60 percent of the student’s salary and the government, through DOLE, would pay the remaining 40 percent. (VHS/PIA-1Pangasinan)
