The solar projects in the province are among the renewable energy service contracts (RESCs) accounting for 1,700 megawatts (MW) potential capacities awarded by the DOE.

Aside from Pangasinan, other provinces that will host DOE’s solar power projects are Nueva Ecija, Valenzuela City, Isabela, Zambales, Pampanga, Bataan, Batangas, Camarines Sur, Bulacan, Tarlac, Negros Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Negros Oriental, and Agusan del Sur.

The DOE also approved other RE projects namely biomass projects in Cavite, Cebu, and Maguindanao; hydropower projects in Laguna, Quirino, Benguet, Quezon, Samar, and Bukidnon; and wind power projects in Ilocos Norte and Negros Occidental.
