THE history of Dagupan City will soon be taught in public and privates schools in the city.

According to Atty. Gonzalo Duque, chairman of the Dagupan City Historical and Cultural Commission, Dagupeños can look forward to it once the Department of Education (DepEd) approves the two modules on Dagupan history and culture for integration into the educational curriculum in the city.

He made the announcement during the Children Summit on Health last week.

Froserfina Bravo, officer-in-charge as schools division superintendent in Dagupan City, said the modules are ready for transmittal to the DepEd head office.

“Upon the approval of the Central Office, we will launch its integration in our curriculum,” she said.

Specifically, the modules will be integrated in the Araling Panlipunan (social studies) subjects of the Grades 3 and 7.

The two modules are initially written in the Filipino language, but Bravo said the Pangasinan version will soon be prepared.

Bravo said her office will continue to write more modules citing the need to promote local culture among the youth. (Johanne R. Macob)
