Lingayen- – “Within our power lies our responsibility to act right as a leader. Let us never lose our self-respect so that we can serve as good examples to the younger generation.”

This was said by Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. during the Barangay Captains Day held last December 20 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) gymnasium as he urged all grassroots leaders to remain non-partisan especially during events like Christmas wherein politics should be set aside for the sake of unity among the federation group.

Turning sentimental, the Governor expressed heartfelt commendation to all barangay officials who, until this moment, have kept their faith on the provincial government and were not blinded by politics.

“From the bottom of my heart I thank all of you. I will never forget this,” he said as he added that his administration continuously supported the grassroots via various projects that redound to the benefit of all 1,333 barangays of Pangasinan.

Expressing his love for the province, Gov. Espino stressed that it is his vision to see Pangasinan as “one team” onwards realizing its full development and progress.

“My love for Pangasinan goes beyond words. I am the only Governor who lives here. My family lives here. And I will retire here,” he added citing that he wants to see the province be handled by future leaders who are ‘true-blooded Pangasinense.’

Meanwhile, Board Member and Liga ng mga Barangay President Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III vowed to heighten progress if given the opportunity and chance to serve the province in a higher capacity.

It can be recalled that BM Espino submitted a resolution to the Governor in December last year requesting for the provision of service vehicles.

In February this year, the provincial board headed by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. has authorized the Governor to purchase the new multi-purpose vehicles to provide transport services to rural folks.

The first batch of distribution for Districts 1 and II was held last November 27 while the rest will be distributed soon.

As stated by BM Espino, the provision of the vehicles will ensure the delivery of basic services and provide adequate means of transportation to the people in the urban areas and in the countryside especially in times of emergencies and calamities.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Calimlim urged the barangay officials to continue serving their constituents as he said that the provincial government vows to extend its full support to the federation and the people at the grassroots, as well.

Calimlim likewise expressed optimism that the federation will remain united as ever and work under ‘One Team Pangasinan.’

Among those who graced the Barangay Captains Day were members of the provincial board and former Congressman Generoso Tulagan, Sr. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
