Couple shot by hitmen-riding in-tandem
URBIZTONDO—A couple, both incumbent and former barangay officials of Barangay Gueteb, was shot by still unidentified motorcycle-riding-in-tandem suspects in Barangay Bayaoas last Thursday.
The Urbiztondo Police Station identified the victims as Violeto Quitaleg, 44, a former barangay councilman, and Lorna Quitaleg, 50, an incumbent barangay councilwoman.
Based on the initial investigation, the couple and their four other companions were on board a motorized tricycle driven by Violeto on their way home when the suspects fired at the victims.
Violeto and Lorna both sustained multiple gunshots and were rushed to a nearby hospital. However, Violeto was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigators recovered slugs of suspected caliber 45 handgun at the scene of the crime. The motive for the killing is still being determined at presstime. (Hilda Austria)
