Couple arrested for keeping firearms, ammo

LINGAYEN–A couple was arrested in a mid- afternoon raid last Dec. 21 by joint elements of the Pangasinan Police Public Safety Company (PPSC) and the San Nicolas Police when they implemented two search warrants in Barangay San Isidro, San Nicolas town.

The raiders led by P/Sr. Inspector Reynate Organista implemented search warrants issued by Executive Judge Ma. Ellen M. Aguilar of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Branch 70 dated December 15, 2015 against brothers Reynel Carpio, 48, and Joel Carpio, respectively.

Arrested in that raid were Reynel Carpio and his wife Jocelyn R Carpio. Joel Carpio, however, was not in his residence when the raid took place.

Seized from the Carpio couple were caliber 9MM caliber pistol, model Smith & Wesson; one magazine assembly for cal. 9MM; 29 live ammunition for caliber 9MM; seven live ammunition for caliber 45; 29 ammunition for 12-gauge shotgun, three pieces of empty specimen bottle, one small tube, two glass tooters and two pieces of lighter.

Confiscated from the house and premises of Joel Carpio were one caliber 45 Colt MK IV/Series 70 with Serial Number 70889, two magazine assemblies for caliber 45 17 pieces of live ammunition for cal. 45, one barrel for caliber 45; one caliber 30 M1 Carbine, two short magazine assemblies for carbine, one long magazine assembly for carbine; and 48 live ammunition for cal. 30 carbine.

Charges are now being prepared against the couple while a manhunt is ongoing for the other suspect. (Leonardo Micua)
