THEY may not have won the Open Elite category but two Pangasinenses came out victorious in their respective divisions in 2015 Tri United 3 race that started at Acea Resort at Subic Freeport, Zambales and ended at Alviera in Porac, Pampanga on October 25.

While national team member August Benedicto of Manila clocked the fastest time among the 600 participants in the 1.9K swim 90K bike 21-K run event, Urdaneta City pride Robinson Esteves outdistanced his rivals in the 25-29 division while province mate Jefferson Valdez of Asingan conquered the 35-39 class.

“Duathlon (run-bike-run) is Esteves’ and my forte but we tried to assess our capability in this swim-bike-run) event and we were successful in our respective categories,” said Valdez, coach of national duathlete members Robeno Javier of Sto. Tomas, Pangasinan and Esteves.

The series Tri United 4 fires off November 22 at Fontana at Clark Field Freeport in Pampanga. (Jesus Garcia Jr.)
